milk caramel

The dulce de leche (milk caramel) used in gelativo is made locally to an Argentinean recipe to give our milk caramel gelato its authentic taste.

Dulce de Leche originated in Argentina in 1829 in the city of Cañuelas in Buenos Aires. Unlike caramel, however, which is made by heating sugar, dulce de leche is prepared by heating milk and sugar to create a rich, decadent caramel sauce or spread. It is also widely used in candy, cakes, alfajores (cookies), ice cream and gelato!
